Choosing the break point?

Is it possible to chose where you want the break between CDs to be? If I select "don't make image files" will I end up with mpegs ready for burning as SVCDs? Could I then join these two files and cut them at a different point?

You can multiplex the mpv and the mp2 with bbMPEG and set your splitpoint where you want it.

Like Labersack said don't merge then cut, use bbmeg and mux the mpv and mp2 files. You can set bbmpeg where to cut in seconds.
It is very hard to do, not the muxing, but the knowing of the exact right second. You will need to know at what point in seconds you want it to stop at.
It's a pain and simply not worth my time. I just set DVD2SVCD to overlap by 5 seconds.
