View Full Version : Strange .iso file behaviour

I'm really new to this stuff and probably have gone off at a tangent ....I am using the latest version of DVD-RB with CCE (basic) to create a .iso file.
Problem is that the .iso (created by ImgBurn) has "inactive" menu's but the VIDEO_TS file from which the .iso was formed, has "active" menu's.
Both files were played back on the same computer using Nero Show Time.
I don't understand much about this technology but surely something is wrong here.
Thanks.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "inactive" menus. But, burn it to a DVD and try it on a standalone player, my guess is that it will work fine -- there are many software players that have other issues.
It may help in debugging if you post your REBUILDER.INI file.

If you are talking about button highlights not showing, then as jdobbs says, many software players are very hit and miss about this, including ShowTime, Power DVD and Media Player Classic.

Thanks guys!
I guess that you are suggesting that, in this case, converting to iso may be counterproductive, so why bother?

No, not at all. I'm saying that many software players have issues. Could you post your REBUILDER.INI file so we can see what your settings are?

Will post ini file when I get home from the daily toil!
Cheers
Edit
jdobbs...what I meant by "inactive" is that menu buttons don't highlight or function

Here, as requested, is the DVD-RB .ini file

I'm especially surprised at the menu setting... you have menu encoding turned off. In that case the menus are an exact duplicate of the original. Was that true when you did the disc for which you are reporting problems?

And did you do any preprocessing on the menus - like converting them to stills? Usually, programs that accomplish this work very well, but sometimes (usually when there are multiple sets of buttons), they hicough.

Menu encoding was turned off (I wasn't certain about what it would do)
There was no preprocessing carried out.
As suggested in a previous post, I burned the iso file to disc and it did indeed fuction perfectly with menu's doing exactly what you would expect them to do.
I suppose then that the "problem" has been to do with the player!!

I'm still a little confused, though. I can't understand why the player would play the menu differently -- when it is an exact duplicate (simply copied) of the original.

I'll mess about a bit (I'm on a learning curve anyway) and see if I can duplicate "problem".

Don't worry about it too much. Stranger things have happened. ;)
