What is a really good quality movie you have seen for about 200-300kbps (with standard definition resolution)
If you can send me a link to see a really good quality movie with this bitrate it would be great
thanks!

This is obviously automated spam, but what I can't figure out is why someone would auto-spam this.

this is not spam,it's a simple question....

I'm not sure what mp4 guy is on about, if there is one thing this isn't, it's "automated spam", especially since this is a modified version of an earlier post. That post was locked for rule 12, but you also seem to be breaking two counts of rule 6!

I do understand mp4 guy's post, the question is so dumb it either betrays total newbism (no offense, we've all been newbs at least once ;)) or disguised attempts to obtain some movies illegally.
Anyhow, why do you believe such a thing actually exists ? Who might have told you such a lie ? My usual anime encodings (512x384 @ 25fps) are watchable at that bitrate but it's far from "great quality".
Also what resolution are you interested in ? What framerate ? On what device do you plan on watching such a video ?
i've seen one, on the same day i've seen the monster of loch ness.Fish tanks are big enough for nessy ? *run's away before he get's eaten* :D
Edit : anyway, the only thing worth watching that could look good at that bitrate is a wall with paint drying (somewhat more interesting that reality TV shows ;)).

If you really want high quality at that low a bitrate, from my experience you need very high quality source material, as at low bitrates every artifact from the source that you encode is that much of a waste.

Well if you could check out "Blue", (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106438/) I'm sure you could get that down to a pretty low bitrate, since it's just a blue screen.

Heres an example of decent quality at 300kbps;
http://users.on.net/inet_s51/300kbps.mp4
Keep in mind the clip is slow motion. Heres the settings used;
- 3 pass bitrate 300kbps
- trellis 2, subme7
- 10 ref frames, 4 bframes
- deblock 0,0
- me umh, mixed refs
Not bad really.

Thanks...I like the quality of this movie, and the resolution is what i'm looking for. anybody else seen things like that?

...I thought it was auto-spam because there were two (they looked identicle to me, but I didn't pay much attention) nearly identicle posts in a short timeframe, and the other obvious spam like qualities of the post.

I remember the good ol' days, when I was first encoding with DivX and how I enjoyed the neat little files from 800kbps to 1000kbps. I actually enjoyed that quality.
Then I wanted better quality. And more. And more. Now I can't watch anything under 1500kbps, even with AVC.
Is this something that normally happens with us enthusiasts?
So, it goes without saying, give me a clip at 300kbps, even on a small screen, I would find it unbearable today...

When I've realized that, I've turned to XviD. :D (though not completely :rolleyes:)

Well, when you keep wanting more and more bitrate, what's the point in x264/AVC? At higher bitrates DivX and Xvid are very good too, so I see one reason why you and I still go there. The quicker encoding times are also very nice...
If this upward trend continues I may even decide on keeping the original source in the first place then (usually MPEG-2).:(
