Out of nowhere I'm getting red blocks watching video on my pc. I removed and reinstalled all of my codecs. I've tried quicktime, vlc, and wmp and they all have the same effect. When I stream my video or transcode to the 360 they play fine.
It can be much worse than the picture I took but taking a snapshot from vlc seems to remove the red blocks.
What could be the problem?

It's easier if you upload a picture to imageshack.us or somewhere rather than waiting for attachments to be approved.
It sounds like your graphics card is at fault,
What OS?
What happens in games?
Have you OC'ed your graphics card?
Have you recently updated graphics drivers?
If you use media player classic, it will allow you in options to change rendering modes, this may make a difference.
You could also try going to the "troubleshoot" tab of your graphics adapters properties and turning down hardware acceleration.

@ezadam
Hi!
Is this happening with only one specific video or all videos?
Have you tried performing a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly?

It sure looks like an overlay colorkey problem, where the background bleeds into the video. Switching to VMR9 should clear up the issue, but you can never be sure.

Happening with all videos...those with higher bitrates/less compression have less blocking.

I disable system restore.
Happens in iTunes as well.
