View Full Version : Is it possible to change field order from upper to lower w/o reencoding whole movie?

Hi guys,

I've been using DVD2SVCD for many movies without a hitch until I tried encoding Jet Li's The New Legend Of Shaolin. It seems that using the default "upper field first" setting under the CCE tab in DVD2SVCD is the cause of this movie's choppiness or jerkyness on my Pioneer DVD player alhough it plays perfectly on my PC. After reencoding a small segment with the "upper field first" unchecked, the movie played flawlessly on my Pioneer. My question is, is there a program or a way to do this without re-encoding the entire movie through DVD2SVCD as it normally takes my slow PC a full day or more. Thanks for your help?

nope. The only way is reenconding it.

Actually, I think pulldown.exe may be able to do that. Something like:
pulldown movie.mpv movie2.mpv -nopulldown -tff odd

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get it to work the one time I wanted to try it, but I think my problem was that I only had the 'after 3/2 pulldown' mpv file to work with.

Hi Kedirekin,

Just wanted to thank you as this saved me a day's worth of re-encoding. It worked like a charm. Ofcourse I had to demux it first, then run the pulldown, and then remux which taken a total of less than 30 minutes. I hope everyone who has chosen the wrong "field order" before can learn from this. Thanks again.
