OK, after all the fussing with an obvious developer (UNITIИU) of these tools, I decided to give it a try. His quote of It does far more than just that as it's a suite of professional tools for encoding with h.264. had me curious. But after trying it, I didn't see how i'd use these tools to encode. But none of that is the reason i'm replying about the tools, the reason is that recently, I started to notice slow decoding after seeking with my avc encoded files. I did'nt think nothing of it though, I was thinking that my insane settings of 16 ref frames and high bitrate usage was the culprit. But then I dropped the ref frames down to 5, and re-encoded again with a low bitrate, and still i'd get very slow decoding after seeking, so I decided to use graphedit to see if a codec/splitter was the one to blame, and to my surprise, it was this "Mainconcept h.264 avc decoder" which was installed when I installed these tools, so I had to uninstall to be able to use coreavc again (Because I don't know how to make my machine use a certain splitter/codec =P). My question is, is there a way I can maybe switch what splitters/codecs to use for my decoding, because i'd like to be able to use these tools. It costed over a grand.

1. set new merit values via DirectShow Filter Manager.
2. Use player with ability to set high priority for splitter, audio/video decoder, audio/video renderer upon player's playback. For example, you can try MPC's "external filter" options - just add filters you like to use (you can check "prefer" to make sure it will be used). I have too many codecs (like 3 full k-lites are installed :p) and don't have any problems using mentioned workflow in MPC.
3. Delete specified/problematic filter as you already tried.

Best way is to combine 1st and 2nd cases for optimal results. 3rd is for amateurs. :) (unless you don't want to keep specified filter)

Thanks. That worked great :)
I even fixed that problem where the bitrate usage for matroska was displaying incorrectly. :)

Hey Terranigma, I actually remember that little “scuffle” over the Elecard thing and that “supporter” of it… LOL

Glad to see you solved your problem. Just as a comment, I too used/tried this MainConcept product and had tons of funny stuff happen to my computer after that, and I’ve even made comments about it in other posts.

If affected my encoding speeds, and it also affected playback apps like VLC, etc.

Yes, MC seems to take over things on your PC, even if you stop using it or think that you uninstalled it. I had to do “surgery” to remove it entirely before I finally got my PC back…

its impossible that some MC direstshow filters would affect VLC, yes other dshow based players it can affect but no way VLC. Encoding speed shouldn't differ too if you don't use dshow decoding

Oops! Sorry, you may be correct.

It definitely did affect more than one playback app, not sure which, either Windows Media Player, Nero ShowTime, QT, DivX Player or VLC. It has been a while now and I forgot which...

What I was doing at the time was comparing quality between encodes, and running multiple instances of various players running the video. VLC was one of them I was running as well, so I got mixed up.

But yes, it affected encoding speeds as well for some reason, and when muxing streams the blasted watermark would pop up. As well, something happened to my .avi files playing DivX as they would crash too during playback.

Anyway, this was a big pain until I finally got it off my PC. It's too bad, I hear great things about MainConcept, and would pay the big bucks for a quality app, but I guess it didn't have "chemistry" with my PC, so no further date... :p
