Is there an official "stable" build of x264.exe like there is for other apps such as lame.exe? I noticed that when I set the update list in MeGUI to "stable" it shows r635 as the "latest version", but I can't find anything about it on http://x264.nl/
May have been asked and answered before. Thanks for any info.

It's MeGUI's designation only; every few revisions the development set of tools will all be merged to stable. (Well, when new revisions are coming out anyway.) I'm not sure if extensive testing gets done on them, it mostly seems to be when all features are implemented. x264 doesn't and apparently will never self-designate a stable version: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=830258

Yup "Stable-for-megui"
Recommended x264 "version" is now 663.
x264 will always go "as-is" but on x264.nl i place notes for revisions not to use if there are problems, but they are usually fixed quickly.
So for now.... revision 663.

...but depending on the code that may not be a good thing. For example, none of the lameenc devs recommend using the alpha builds for anything but testing.
