Possible to change default system renderer from VMR to EVR?

This is probably a very naive question... but, is it possible to change MS Vista's default DS video render from VMR to EVR? That would solve a lot of limitations in software players until there is specific support for it.

EDIT: I meant when dxva2 compatible mpeg2 decoders and software apps other than WMP/MCE

I think that EVR is the default on vista. you have to remember that EVR is only used on aplications that suport it.
Ex:Gabest original MPC v6.4.9.0 does not support it but casimir666 mod v1.8.4.0 supports it.

Zoomplayer v5.50 beta in Vista allows selection of any renderer: EVR, VMR or even Haali's video renderer if you so desire.
