I just picked a nice and shiny LG chocolate a couple of days ago. I was messing around with encoding videos for it and I discovered it can play h264 content with aac audio in a 3gp container. The only problem is that the max bitrate before the phone drops frames is ~200kbps. with h263, the phone can handle around 500.

Anyway, I was wondering what profile to use? I'm currently using SUPER to encode the video and audio then mux them (automatically) but I would like to use Megui so I could have more control over the quality and such. Any suggestions for what muxer to use (needs to be 3gp or 3g2)?

32 kbps HE-AAC with the rest of the bitrate for video.

and I too have SUPER, and I guess you can do stuff in it too.

does the phone support h.263 or h.264?

Can you get an approved compatible clip for the phone and put it on your comp?

This way you can use h264_parse and check out the settings.

does the phone support h.263 or h.264?

yes to both, in a 3gp container with ACC sound. Even with super low bitrates (150kbps) the video looks decent. The sound quality starts to deteriorate below ~64kbps.
