I have been backing up my DVD's for a few years now and got started with the help of this forum. Recently run into some problems with the newer protection schemes and came back to this site/forum searchig for the answers. I think I've got it figured out, but would like it if someone could evaluate my new procedures as I have seen a lot of different guides out there, some I like, some I don't, and they are all different. Many are outdated...

Anyhow I've got a new LG-H22L DL burner and use primarily Verbatim media. Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, Windows XP.

I have some left over single layer discs and will use those up first, so here is my proposed procedure for DVD-9 to DVD-5:

1) Rip with RipIt4Me/DVD Decrypter/Fix VTS in "file" mode
2) DVD shrink to compress onto 1 disc or split to 2 discs
3) ImgBurn in Build mode to burn files to DVD

For dual layer burning:

1) Rip with RipIt4Me/DVD Decrypter/Fix VTS in ISO mode
2) Burn to dual layer media with ImgBurn ISO mode

Any comments/suggestions/improvements?

Thanks in advance. I know these things probably get asked a lot around here, but I did a lot of searching around and have not found exactly what I am looking for. I trust the opinions on this board a lot, and would just like to hear some feedback.

Your two sets of procedures should work just fine ;>}

Single Layer: you can also create an ISO with Dvd Shrink & burn with ImgBurn.

Dual Layer: although ImgBurn will remind you if you don't, don't forget to choose the MDS file to burn, that is the one that contains the layer break info. If your drive supports it, don't forget to set the booktype for Dvd+R DL to Dvd-ROM.
