How if at all is the CoreAVC 1.3 decoder bundled with the latest quicktime alternative any different than the standalone CoreAVC, and why would I have a need to buy CoreAVC separately?

I've searched the threads but don't seem to find an answer.

I think you've got one of those pirated versions there. The QT alt i've got, doesnt have any pirated software afaik (except that the MOV-decoder is pirated in Apple's/QT's opninion :p)

I've found a number of codec packs hosted on places such as Softpedia that have CoreAVC included.

Oh yeah, it's all over the place, no doubt... Definitely illegal, and I'm not cool with that. If they made CoreAVC actually available and reasonable, that would be great but no...

QuickTime / Real Alternative are both pretty much not legal, but hey.. it's nice to not have QuickTime or Real player installed, but still have DirectShow splitters.
