--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have this issue for long time and couldn't find a solution, I though PDVD ultra could solve it but not: when I wach dvd music concert videos, in some of them, appears what looks like a gost or a second blury image when there is movmement in the screen; some told me that is a deinterlace problem but I try to modify some aspects in the PDVD ULtra but couldnt get perfect picture. One example of a video that shows this problem is the Cream concert in the royal albert hall.
I would like to know exactly what it is , why happens and how can I solve it.
My config: AMD 3800+ core duo, Gygabite 8500GT 1
and XP media center edition.
Thanks

Cream looks just fine to me; I captured it as transport off ATSC broadcast. How did you encode it?

Are any of these PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL conversions? Many times when they convert, they'll just blend it all together and reinterlace. Sometimes you can use MRestore to correct that. Otherwise, it's possible that it's a deinterlacing problem, but it'd still be easier to have a look at a snip of the source.

I use anydvd to backup and play it thru two programs: PowerDVD and Theatertek (the problems persists in both). This problem use to happen just with videos, never with movies. In the past a person in other forum told me that the problem is because some concerts are recorded differently. No conversions, I just have one pal concert but image is OK. About deinterlace, what kind of adjustements can I do to clarify if this is the problem or not?. Again, thanks for your halp.

No conversions, I just have one pal concert but image is OK.
The problem here is not that you are doing a NTSC <-> PAL conversion, but that sometimes the movie companies do a bad conversion to produce PAL DVD's from NTSC material (or vice versa). You can check this, by separating the fields: If you see blending within a field, then it is "field blended"...
It might be something like this:

Hi!I use anydvd to backup and play it thru two programs: PowerDVD and Theatertek (the problems persists in both).If you play the ORIGINAL commercial DVD on the same system, does it exhibit the same ("ghosting") behavior?

Lord murler, yes my problem looks like that but just appears when there is some movement and not always.
Setarp_old , the original does not have that behavior.

Then rerip them from the DVDs using a proper encoding tool, like AutoGK or MeGUI.

@jorsan
Please clarify, so that all posters to this thread understand - Have you created a backup copy of the DVD or have you converted/compressed it to a different format (e.g. DivX compressed .AVI, XviD-compressed .AVI, .MOV, etc.)?

when I wach dvd music concert videosJust a backup (.ts)I'm beginning to feel really thick ;>}
Are you making a DVD backup of an original, commercial DVD?
Or are you making a DVD backup of a .TS file that you captured?
Or are you (somehow) making a .TS file from a DVD?

Sounds like he captured the concert as a .TS and then made a DVD out of it.
Thick, eh? You must be a brit or an aussie.

I have the original disk and made a copy as a back up (using anydvd). The original plays Ok but the copy have that problem.1) Try making a new backup copy - use high quality media (e.g. Taiyo-Yuden ["T-Y"] or Verbatim), burn at a low speed (4x or 8x maximum)
2)Just a backup (.ts)Again, what the devil does a ".TS" file have to do with make a backup DVD copy of a DVD?

That might be true for the former Donald (ie the Brits), but please leave us out of it. :D

@jorsan
Your coyness is raising doubts about the legitimacy of your source material. Please clarify things. If you don't the thread will be closed.

If you want to close the thread is your decision not mine. Let me tell you that all the material that I have is legitimate, I pay for all that I have and this is what I'm trying to teach to my kids and Im sure that not everybody could say the same.

The files that anydvd create have the subfix .ts.Are you sure you don't mean a folder named "VIDEO_TS"?

Sorry!, yes, Thats what it said; I thought was .TS and not _TS. As you can see, Im a beguiner in this area learning all days. Thanks for your post

Now that you've clarified things, it's now understood that you are playing a DVD "package" (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs - in a "VIDEO_TS" folder) from your hard drive - and the hard drive version exhibits "ghosting", but the original DVD doesn't when played on the same system.
If everything I've stated here is correct, then I believe your hard drive is at fault.
1) Check your Control Panel settings to make sure that all drives are in "DMA" mode and not "PIO" mode
2) Without deleting the present hard drive copy, try making another hard drive copy (So that it will be written to different sectors of the hard drive). If the new copy plays properly, chances are there are some bad sectors on your hard drive...

OK, let's try to get things back on track.
You have an original DVD that plays without ghosting but your backup DVD made with AnyDVD plays with ghosting. Is that correct?
If so, then why not just make an ISO copy of the DVD?
Or did you not in fact make a DVD as the output product?

@neuron2
See post #17 in this thread:Serapit_old, the backup copy is in a hard drive, not a in aDVD.
I believe I summarized things (hopefully accurately) in post #23

Setarip_old yes all that you state is correct. My HDs were in DMA so looks like this is not the problem. About a new copy I didnt try that but will do thanks for your comments.
Neuron2, your first comment is correct. The reason I dont want to make a copy of the hole DVD is because I have to go thru the menus everytime I want to play it, copying as I do is faster and easer to play them.
Let me elavorate more about the problem: The ghosting just happens when there is movement and not always, appears for 1-2 seconds and then dissapesrs but there is not a rutine : appears and dissapears randomly.
(Sorry about my english, this could the the reason of the missunderstanding)

Setarip_old,
Just finish to partialy back up again and problem remains the same. Thanks for the idea anyway.

The only other suggestions I have, based on what you've described, is to try ripping the DVD to a hard drive on a different system.
You might also try using a different procedure (something other than AnyDVD) to create the backup copy...
**EDIT** By the way, there is a FILE (not FOLDER) format ".TS". It stands for "Transport Stream" - and has nothing to do with conventional DVDs. That's why your posts caused such confusion ;>}

Thanks setarip_old for your comments. In 2 hours I'll travelling out of the country for two weeks so when I return I'l post my findings again. Thanks to all for your help.
