View Full Version : AutoGK: Livelock when splitting xvid .avi file

Hi, I seem to have a problem creating my xvid videos using AutoGK.

When I convert a DVD into a 1400MB video (for 2CDs) everything goes fine until the point where I need to split the file in two parts of 700MB.

AutoGK orders VirtualDub to split the file as usual but shortly after VirtualDub has started splitting, it freezes! VirtualDub usually creates the first few bits of the CD1 file (like, say, 80MB) and then gives the following error message:

Dub: I/O thread has not cycled for ten seconds -- possible livelock.
Dub: Processing thread has not cycled for ten seconds -- possible livelock.

The weird part is, I USED to be able to split .avi files with AutoGK/VirtualDub without any problem! So I guess some setting got changed that is now ruining everything!

Can anyone help me out here?

If you need more information about my system, here it is:

OS: Windows Vista Premium 64-bit
AutoGK: version 2.40 (newest)
VirtualDubMod: 1.5.4.1 (build 2178/release) [based on VirtualDub 1.5.4 by Avery Lee]

Thanks for your help!!

:thanks:

EDIT: Perhaps I should also note that I encode my movies with 128kbps VBR MP3 audio and I have the xvid set to "auto width".

Hi mr soft, thank you for your reply but I'm afraid the link is not of much help. :(

First of all, I'm not having livelock issues when extracting audio, just at the very end when I'm splitting the .avi file.

And second, one guy on the page of which you gave me the link says that the processing thread priority should be set to normal, but I already had it set to normal!

So do you have any other suggestions?

Or is there anyone else out there who can help?

Let me stress again that the splitting actually WORKED before, but now it suddenly doesn't. So I really think some setting must have changed. I just don't know which one!

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

Have you tried restoring your pc to an earlier date ie: when things were peachy , or simply uninstalling AGK and reinstaling.

other than that I´m stumped .

I see that no real solutions have been given yet. :(

But in the meanwhile I have found out that I ONLY have problems with splitting xvid videos that have MP3 audio!! When I select AC3 audio, VirtualDub splits the file in two CDs perfectly without any livelock problem.

So there must be something on my computer related to MP3 that causes livelock in VirtualDub. Does anyone know what it could be??

Thanks!

Hi!

As an experiment, try creating such an .AVI, in AutoGK, as a SINGLE file - and then try using VirtualDub DIRECTLY to split it (Remember to, in VirtualDub, set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy")...

If setarip's advice doesn't work or you don't have the time, you might try searching the AGK forum using "livelock" as your keyword. On the homepage of that specific forum, right above the Sticky's to the right, you'll see a button that says, "Search this forum". Enter your keyword there and you'll only get returns from the AGK forum. I've never had a "livelock" issue, so I have no hands-on experience to quote from.

Good luck...ammck55

Try changing your audio codec , as I think this is your problem
Do you have lame installed ? also in your AGK folder there is a big help section in the Vdubmod folder.
