Good way to rip clips from dvds ?

Im looking for an application thats going to let me open a dvd and select 3 minutes or so like virtual dub and export it to an external file without decripting the entire dvd onto my hdd which would take too long .

Is theyre any application like this ?

yes, dvdshrink (reauthor mode, with no shrinking of course :))
