Figured I start a new thread since this is an issue of it's own.

Auto GK 2.40
DVDFab HD Decrypter

I can rip and convert to an xvid AVI just fine. I setup the decrypter to only rip english audio. When the movies are finished I have to turn the volume to about 3/4 the way up compared to my normal audio levels. Compared to the audio of everything else, I barely can hear the movie. To fix this I was told to install the AC Filter and adjust the settings to hear the movie better. As I'm not a fan of installing the AC filter software on all of my computers, is there a way to fix this before the I convert them to xvids? I also have a few Linux boxes that I don't know how to do the AC filter thing with.

Is there a way to fix this so they have normal audio when the process is done. I searched and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

The problem isn't with the encode if you're keeping the original audio. The only solution is to install AC3Filter and adjust it. If you try to increase the volume of the AC3 audio to the level you seem to need, you will only succeed in ruining it. The only other solution would be to re-encode the audio to MP3.

I don't remember having this problem when I was doing backups 2 years ago. What decrypter would convert the audio to MP3 then?

AutoGK will, if you select MP3 under Advanced Options. If you leave it to Auto and your output settings are big enough it'll use the original audio if it can.

I'll give it a try.

VBR or CBR and what is a decent bitrate? If it were me I would goto 320 but I don't want to be wasteful. I don't remember doing any of this when I did this 2 years ago.

Also these are going into 1500mb xvid movies.

generally less problems with CBR (constant bitrate (vbr = variable br)) imho.

i myself use 128 kbps CBR mp3, but many people find that to low a quality. you can use 192 or 256.
remember though that the lower you go with audio, the better the
picture will be for the same output size ;)

for 2cd rips, id use either original or if its a long movie 192 cbr.
im sure thats just me though heh

I'll give both a shot. I upped the size to 2GB just to check the differences between video quality on this test run.
