I've never own a DVD that have 2 screen formats (both widescreen and full-screen formats) before, actually all DVDs I have are in widescreen format.
Recently, I found that upcoming TMNT DVD (http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/tmnt.html) may have both formats on one disc. (this is written on back cover (http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/tmnt.html))
My question is; does this mean there are two different video files on the disc (one is in widescreen, another is in full-screen)? or there is only one video file with option to change aspect ratio?

Maybe 16:9 for the movie and 4:3 for extras??

That's what I thought when I first heard.
But at the bottom of the back cover, it said:Standard Version This film has been modified as follows from its original version; it has been formated to fit your screen. Widescreen Version presented in a "letterbox" widescreen format preserving the "scope" aspect ratio of its original theatrical exhibition, enhanced for widescreen TVs. I think they mean the movie, not extras. My guess is they have 2 different videos for both formats.
If I was right, this could seriously hurt visual quality of the movie as they must decrease bitrate in order to fit both screen formats on one disc.
Could anyone that have DVDs which contain 2 screen formats comfirm this?

Hi!
Yes, there are some DVDs that contain two separate and complete versions (fullscreen and widescreen) versions of a movie on one double layer disc. Such DVDs usually have little, if any, in the way of "Extras" or alternate audiostreams - and the movies are typically not prohibitively long...

and it turn out to be what I was afraid of. IMO, it's pretty wasteful to have 2 versions of the same movie on one disc. That's also explain why some of deleted scenes couldn't make it to DVD.
By the way, setarip_old, thanks for info.
