I have a concert that is 2h and 2min long in .avi format and is 673megs, I am trying to use my Roxio software to create a DVD with menus and backgrounds and stuff, which I have done a lot of before with the same software... I learned how to replace the image files in the DVDbuilder program to make my own backgrounds, and replce the cheesy music they provided with something a little more my taste (Metal). When I transfer this movie to the builder program, the size of the DVD project goes from 20megs, up to 6.8gig's way to much for a DVD, and I don't have it on the dual layer setting either, I don't have a dual layer burner. I have tried converting the format to .wmv all the way down to 499megs, and to .mpg at the same size of the original, every time I load it to DVDbuilder, same thing, a 499meg file uploads to 6.8gig's... A friend of mine said it was the length of the video that was screwing me, is he right?

Thank you in advance for any help...

I guess I forgot to say, the content is of a live performance that a friend of mine got at a local show, with a JVC dv cam. the content is not protected. The band, seeing some of the previous work I've done with backgrounds on different DVD's (my wedding and my friends duaghter's graduation last year) asked me to put together a DVD that they could hand out... But I am having this problem...

I guess I should ask why I can't back up a Jonny Cash DVD, for some reason DVD shrink wont get passed opening the disk, can you help me with that......

Hi!

I have no answers for you - but I'm still trying to wrap my head around how a JVC DV cam created a673Mb 2 hour plus .AVI...

I pulled the video off the camcorder using Ulead video studio, which has a feature to make the movie fit on a cd, in AVI format becuase you can put it in most DVD players, and they will play the format. Just no menus. The vid was originally around 6gig's I think...

I got help at another forum. Roxio was the culprit. I fixed it, and burned it last night...

I'm glad to hear that you've resolved your dilemma - primarily because your postings befuddle me ;>}

Unless something has changed, Ulead Video Studio is perfectly capable of authoring a DVD directly from your source video...

Again, congratulations!

I use Pinnacle Studio for this same purpose. (Well I guess I'm a Fan as I've used it since version 7 and now into 10.) I actually think version 9 would be best suited to this task from the original DV tape. You'd loose a lot by going to a 673 Meg version.

But I'm glad it all worked out.
