Hi all.

I stupidly lent one of my Star Trek:TNG dvd's to a friend and she's given it back to me full of scratches. I tried making a copy using DVDShrink, then RipIt4Me with no luck. I understand now, after searching thru the forum here, that DVDFab Decrypter is capable of skipping (not sure if that's the right word) these scratched pieces. I've downloaded the program but I'm finding it's freezing at that section of the disc
where I'm presuming the scratches are. I get an error message: "Error while reading! Please choose what to do?" then it gives me these options: Retry, Abort, Ignore, Ignore All. I've tried retry, ignore, ignore all and all that seems to happen is everything freezes except the time elapsed bit. I left it going for 3 hours today, with no success. I think I'm doing everything correctly, I can't find a tutorial anywhere that has troubleshooting on it and I've searched the forum to no avail. Should I perservere or just give it up as a bad job? Any advice would be helpful! :thanks:

Hi!

Sounds like it's time for your friend to buy a new replacement of the DVD...

I had a feeling that'd be the case. Argh, frustrating, as the DVD is part of a box set and I don't speak to that particular friend anymore. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes. :)

Have you tried resurfacing the disc? Sometimes it's effective. You can get amazing results from commercial resurfcers if a rental store nearby has one, or there are kits you can buy for $10-50 of varying quality.

I thought of that. I'm bringing it up to my local DVD rental shop, see if they can do it on their machine :)
