View Full Version : Are DL media always better?

In a recent thread about authoring DVDs I was advised to "use Verbatim D/L DVD+R media, as it thusfar is the only such media to consistently yield successful results." Does that opinion apply even if I can fit the whole program on a single layer DVD? Since the DLs are so much more expensive, I'm hoping that the regular Verbatim DVD+R media work just as well from a technical standpoint. Any advice?

That just can't be true.
A good disc is a disc that works well with your burner, and every burner has its preferences.
Check the website of your burner for a list of recommended discs.

Hi!

You are quoting me - and what I said was specifically in response to a question regarding the use of D/L media. With regard to D/L media, use Verbatim D/L DVD+R media, as it thusfar is the only such media ("such media" = D/L) to consistently yield successful results.

Obviously, if your DVD "package" can fit on a S/L burnable DVD, there's no need to use D/L media.

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as S/L media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters

(If necessary, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel to determine the make and model number)

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as S/L media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

Thanks. I've checked out my drive and picked up some recommendations from the website you suggested.
