I've been having a hard time getting WMNicEnc to work in Vista. The program keeps crashing whenever I press the "encode" button. I've tried running the program as administrator and running it in XP compatibility mode, but nothing has worked. Has anyone else had any luck getting the program to work with Vista?

hey snrsuave, it works fine with my vista. The only problem I have is that i can't make it work when the source is encoded with x264.

What's the type of your source? I think it has something to do with your codec.

I must be having the same problem as you then. I have only tried using it to convert a .mkv file to WMVHD for the 360. The .mkv file has ac3 sound and x264 video. I haven't tried using it with other video types, but I will try when I get home. Do you think it doesn't work with x264 because of the codec?

I'm not sure. I still cant make it work with Vista, even I have the same softwares installed like i did under WinXP.

My situation is different from yours actually. My WMNicEnc doesnt crash at all. It's just the encoding is very fast, about 10 seconds, and the final file is several hundreds kilobytes.
