I/o Error 23

well i went step by step and followed all the rules for dvd2svcd guide. i have the newest version of dvd2svcd and am running xp professional. i e-mailed doom and he told me to install forceaspi, which didnt seem to help. i installed an ASPI layer and confirmed that it worked. however, this error keeps coming up no matter what. im running a 900 athlon with 45 gb and 384 ram. the movie that im trying to rip has 7 vob files. dvd2svcd always rips the first vob without a prob but then the error comes up some half way through the 2 vob file. i got no idea what to do. the first vob file comes out to be some 800+ megs while the second file only stops at 60 megs. have any of you guys encountered this same problem? the ASPI layer is installed and functioning on my system. so i dont think that that is the problem. anyone runing XP has encountered or solved this problem? im open to any and all suggestions.

When it stops ripping at a paticular point I clean the DVD with water and lint-free cloth wiped in dry...from inner to outter...(NOT circular motion) and I noticed small scratch that no way in hell is going away. So the DVD was toast. Another good reason to BACKUP your DVDs.

mozart i think that that is the problem: a bad sector. i remember watching the movie and it froze during the begninning. unfortunately, im not too familiar with sector extractor. isnt there a guide or something that explains step by step? anyways, thnx 4 your help. i figured out the problem....i just gotta solve it somehow!!
