Hi,
i been trying to convert a mkv file to wmv with windows media encoder. My problem is, that 1 pass encoding works fine but two pass ALWAYS fails. I've been using the same settings as i did with the successfull 1 pass encoding, but all i'm getting after some hours of encoding is a small file (much smaller that the 1 pass encoding (1/10 of the size) and this file cannot be played. I've tried VBR and CBR with no difference. Settings were:
Source: video (from file (type mkv with no audio)); audio is multichannel wav. I'd selected to encode directly into a file,
using windows media audio 10 professional for audio and windows media video 9 advanced profile for video. Targetbitrate is 10M, videosize is like original, quality is 100, buffer is standard, keyframe is 3 secs. I've been changing the settings for days now, and everytime encoding delivers a small file, which cannot be played. The really strange thing is, if i use the same settings and simply deselect 2 pass (so encoding only with 1 pass) everything is fine again.
Has anyone discovered the same situation? Is there a solution for this? I tried encoding under vista and xp (both 32bit) and the problem exists under both operation systems (at least for the german language version i am using).
Thank you for your support!
Cheers,
Michael
