repeating video

I've been really trying to get this thing to work for over a week now, with no luck. The previous build was giving me fits with CCE lockups at random points. Build 4 seems to have cured that, but now I'm getting repeating video, like a loop. Plays 4 or 5 seconds forward, jumps back 2, then goes on for 5 more. Repeats this forever. I even built up a new 900Mhz box with XP and *only* the DVD2SVCD prog and related software on it. I used all the default settings, running from a 60GB C: drive, I've tried Fireburner and CDRwin, I've turned off the 2 sec overlap thinking maybe *that* had something to do with it.....Other than that, no changes at all. Using full verison CCE 2.5.0.1.....Anyone else see this or know what the hell I've done wrong? Thanks in advance.

Looping on the standalone DVD. I never got that with the previous version, and I've been playing with the DVDx program too. That one gives me different errors, things like VBR under/overruns and occasional incorrect frame totals, but never this looping video issue.

Oh, and before you ask....the problem I was having with build 3 (why I don't just go back to that one) is because it kept hanging up in CCE at the 1.4MB filesize mark...... ;)

-check your .xml file and try to follow it...not hard at all.
-if it plays fine with no looping with WinDVD or PowerDVD then it's your Standalone....only thing you could do in that case would probably lower your bitrate and see if that helps.

will do. For the record, I got the standalone just last week, but haven't had any problems like this one. CD/MP3/CD/CDRW/VCD etc...but I wanted digital out, so I exchanged it for another model this morning. Same looping result, so it must be a setting, I figure. I'll check that xml...thanks.

The looping sounds like a multi-angle problem to me. For example, Disney DVDs are notorious for using multi-angles to include the beginning and ending credits in different languages. At the beginning of the movie, it plays the english credits for a few seconds, then switches to maybe spanish, then back to english, and so on.
Not all DVDs do this, so it may be the first time you've run into it. Do you have ripping disabled in DVD2SVCD? If not, do you use vStrip or the internal routines? (you might try the other one)

You know, now that you mention it, the one I've been working with is Emperor's New Groove, and about 3 minutes into it, there's the storyline in English. I saw a brief second where that flipped to Spanish just now.
No, I've ripped the files with SmartRipper 2.41. The same IFO/Vobs I copied from one machine to each of these (I'm running three different machines in order to speed up the process of elimination for settings/best all-in-one DVD->SVCD program. Two AMD's (900 and 1600XP), a P3 500, and I even fired it up on a 4th system, a Celeron 850, which, BTW, doesn't seem to have a problem with CCE, just the sam loop thing.....
I'll wait for another spin around the circuit, then try one of them ripping directly from DVD2SVCD.

internal routines works fine with the emporers new groove (pal),i had trouble with smartripper.
i personaly use internal routines for everything now,its coped with everything i've thrown at ot whereas smartripper tends to be a pain in the ass for me :)

Smart Ripper in movie mode will also isolate just one program chain(aka PGC, i.e. angle) for encoding.
File mode and backup mode copy the vobs complete, thus preserving the multiple program chains, and leading to the problem you're seeing.
I also use two PCs in my process. My preferred method is to use Smart Ripper in backup mode to get the entire DVD on the hard drive of PC1 (in idle time, while PC2 is encoding). I then use DVD2SVCD or Smart Ripper in movie mode to copy just the PGC I want from PC1 to PC2.
