Latest Version: 1.0a

I created this tool for my own benefit, since i was tired of all the half assed programs that couldnt convert my movies to right aspect ratio, with subtitles, etc etc. So i created ZunEnc, which can convert almost all movies to a Microsoft Zune playable file format with subtitles, very handy for people that arent english.

It turns this:

In to this:

To run this program you need:
• .NET Framework
• Avisynth installed
• WMV Encoder installed

Download here: http://flxdesigns.net/zunenc/ZunEnc-v1a.zip

Known glitch: I didnt build the processes in synchronous mode, so if the movie needs to be demuxed because of an audio codec, it doesnt have a wait on there. just click on the nice continue button after its done demuxing. DONT CLICK ON THE BUTTON BEFORE ITS DONE DEMUXING! otherwise the encoding process already starts

I'm a beginner in programming and encoding, but I think i pulled off a pretty good job for my first program. Do you think it sucks? tell my why in this thread or leave me a PM.

Regards,

FLX

p.s for the more advanced ppl, please tell me if i used all video encoding arguments correctly. It drops encode.bat in the "res" folder when you start encoding. It would help a lot if some of you can comment me on the use of the arguments, to maybe speed up the process.

doesnt work for when i try to encode a video without a sub file it crashes

its with mediainfo.exe

and

the net frameworl report says

unhandled exception has ocurred in your application. if you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.if you click qui the application will close immediately

root element is missing

I have been trying to find a program that would convert some of my movies into .wmv for my Zune.

Pretty much all of the ones I find convert a 2 hour movie in about 2 days, has so many bugs, or is just too complicated for me to get to work (I'm not the best when it comes to computers etc.).

:thanks:

EDIT: Uhmm, I get the same error as the guy above, seems your encoder doesn't work if you don't put in subs.

Why would subtitles be required? This would be a great "one-click" solution if it didn't crash on the the absence of a sub file.

Hmm...i thought i had built it with subs as an option. I'll fix that in the next release.

could you add the option to choose resolution

Cool. Have you thought about propogating registry keys, ala WMCmd.vbs? If so, I can make some recommendations for you on that on Monday (optimal Zune encoding is the topic of my next blog post).

What do you mean by propagating registry keys? i dont have a clue. Besides, i want to keep the app as portable as possible

could you add the option to choose resolution

what other resolutions then the standard zune 320x240 did you had in mind?

The registry keys used by wmvencod.dll:

320x180 for 16:9 is very common.
