Hi,

Not sure this is the right forum to post in, but does anybody know about screen captures in Power DVD?

Basically, I used to capture screenshots with the screenshot option set to go to clipboard, and then pasting them into my graphics package directly for saving. These shots always came out in 768x576.

I then upgraded from WinXP Pro SP2 to Vista Business (whoops), and suddenly I found that my screen captures were coming out in 720x576, and looked very out of aspect ratio.

After realising what a mistake Vista is (in general), I went back to WinXP, only to discover, that my screenshots were still coming out weird. I even tried switching to save directly to a file, and tried to change the resolution, but the aspect ratio is blatently off (and yes, I have tried the "Keep Aspect Ratio" option).

I can only assume I had an option un/selected somewhere before that I don't now, but quite what it is I am unsure. The only clue I have is that when the screens were fine, the black bands above and below the image were reflective of the whole screen.

Now when I play the DVD, I can see that the actual video image does not expand all the way to the top and bottom of the screen, being part video fill, and part software fill. When I look at the captured image, I can see that even when I force it to the correct resolution, the image is out of aspect ratio because the bands at the top and bottom are nowhere near the depth they used to be.

I am running on an AMD FX-62 with a GeForce 8800 GTX, and a number of hardware acceleration options are available to me, both in PowerDVD and in the Forceware drivers for the card. Quite which ones I need to choose to get this back to the 768x576 resolution however I seem to be at a loss for, as I have tried a number of combinations and not found anything that works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Rob.
