I rip my dvd's into single VOB format with the IFO and Chapter file with DVDDecrpter for encoding to x264. Now a few of them I want to also recode to dvd for backups (Collectors Editions, and the kids movies). However when I try to load it into Recode, it whinges that its not a valid DVD or something to that effect. I was wondering if there was a simple way to rebuild dvd structure from the vob and ifo so I can open it in recode? I think I got it to work once with IFOEdit or VOBEdit, but since then all it seems to do is corrupt my vobs. Probably because I'm unsure of all the options.
I can re-rip my dvd's, its just that I have about 15 already ripped in my encode format and it would just be easier if I could rebuild it.

Hi!I can re-rip my dvd's, its just that I have about 15 already ripped in my encode format and it would just be easier if I could rebuild it.I can't think of a way you could reconstruct the original groups of .VOBs.
Therefore, it would be easier (actually, the ONLY option) to simply re-rip and make backups of your original DVDs

If you just have VOBs, you can use Ifoedit's Create IFOs function.
However, we tend not to give advice to people who don't have IFOs. Please see #7 of this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/announcement.php?f=6) by killingspree.
Therefore, setarip_old's advice to re-rip the DVDs is best we can do for you.

Thats cool. Just that I have to re-rip the whole thing, not just the Video_TS's etc. I'll try the create ifo, I think thats what I used before. Cheers.
EDIT: Update - Created what I needed, but since the vob was merged into 1 file by dvddecrypter it still causes errors in Recode. Looks like I'll be reripping. Thanks again.

That's why I said:I can't think of a way you could reconstruct the original groups of .VOBs.

Well its just that I managed to do it once before with ifoedit. Just randomly ticking boxes that sounded what I wanted.
ConvertXtoDVD can read it straight from the single IFO & VOB so I guess I'll use that for the kids ones and rerip my good ones.
Changing the mode in DVDDecrypter to FILE and copying everything works fine in Recode.
