I've been backing up my DVDS into MP4 format using MeGUI to play on my XBox 360 through a external HD. I've been using the HQ-Slower profile and am happy with the quality, but have experimented with other settings and profiles to get more accustomed with it. I tried using HQ-Slow and the only thing different I did was check NO Fast P Skip and the movie wont play on the XBox. The only reason I didnt think using that setting would be a problem was because I tried HQ-Insane where it is already ticked and that video played fine. I guess what I'm wondering is there something else that needs to be ticked along with No Fast P Skip thats different between the profiles. And I do make sure the AVC level is set to 4.1.

Fast p-skip cannot make any difference to the output stream in any way that would affect x360 compatbility. Perhaps the bitrate changed orsomething else?

To make it fully compatible with the Xbox 360 you need to untick Adaptive DCT & P4x4 along with setting it as AVC 4.1 or 5.1.

I have enabled the no-fast P skip option and my encodes play fine based off the CE-High Profile and HQ-Slow profile with the changes above.

Might be worth giving that a go.

Thanks guys I'm trying with the adaptive DCT disabled. Its was enabled before but the P4x4 wasnt so that may be the problem.

Ok just to update I figured out the problem the other day I was having. It was actually nothing wrong with the VIDEO encode, it was the audio. I didn't pay attention, needs 2 channel not 5.1. Anyhow for anyone who is interested, so far for me all of sharktooth's HQ profiles play fine on my xbox360.
