The vistacodec pack is available here:

Install the 64bit pack after you have installed the 32bit pack.
Edit: the pack also includes fdshow, remove it before installing

No need to uninstall ffdshow.
The pack just bundles ffdshow with my builds of Gabest's filters
http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/Media%20Player%20Classic/external%20filters/x64//
It also includes Xvid which I think is squid_80's along with my directshow filter compile since he didn't include that. All this stuff can be installed manually. No need for codec packs.

Sure. The pack just makes it easier to setup everything right at once. It also includes several registry entries to make everything work smoothly, and start menu entries to switch between windows media player 32bit and 64bit as a default player (this is a headache to do manually if you don't know where to get the command line).
As for the need to uninstall the other ffdshow, it installs it in its own vistacodecs directory in c:\program files ; so you would end up with 2 different ffdsow builds installed... better to clean it up before hand, no ?
Another good thing about the vistacodec pack is that it is updated regularly, so you are always using the latest versions.
