View Full Version : Embedded QuickTime - Acts strange when streaming to slow connections.

I'm embedding QuickTime (264) videos that run at about 1 mbps. That should be fine for most people with highspeed internet, where even the worst DSL/Cable is usually around 2mbps or higher.

At any rate, I'm frustrated by how QuickTime behaves when it can't download fast enough. Instead of pausing the video and resuming it once enough of the stream has been buffered, it either A) pauses the video, and never automatically resumes it, even when the whole video is downloaded, or B) restarts the whole video from beginning.

Quicktime sucks on windows? Who'd have thought.

Anyway, are you asking for a solution to this? I think it might be possible to turn buffering way up, but that's on the client side only.

50% venting

48% hoping there was some secret hidden "stop sucking" parameter I could use when embedding my quicktime file.

2% expecting there to actually be a viable solution other than to ditch QT
