Hi, I was just messing round with this dvd I recently got and I decided to use MeGUI for the second time instead of the usual xvid but I had a problem this time (first time I did not have any problem but it was jsut a simple encode, no Queu Analisis Pass nor huffy pass).

I first did a Queue Analisys Pass:

From that I take it nothing went wrong.

Then the huffy pass:

I don't understand most of the stuff in that log but I can see some stuff that shouldn't be there if everything was fine.

The 2pass 1 and 2 didn't occur. The 2pass 1 gave me an error and the second one was skipped.

Anything I'm doing wrong to get these results?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

This happened to me the other week, seems a common confusion.

Assuming you have ffdshow installed (of course you do ;) )

Go to the "VfW configuration" and tell it, under the codecs page, to decode huffy.

First of all, thanks for responding.
I just went to CCCP folder, VFW codec config and changed Huffyuv to have libavcoder as the decoder, not sure if that's what you meant. Assumnig that is what you meant, is there a way to use the huffy pass I got to encode the 2passes? If so, should I even do that or should I just encode a new huffy pass?

Thanks

Yeah the huffy pass will have been fine, it's just decoding it in avisynth it had a problem with.

You can go to the jobs (queue) list, select the errored jobs, right click them and changed the status to "waiting". Then it will run these jobs now.

Great! I won't have to spend 30hrs of encoding again, although I might for insignificant reasons. Anyway, thanks for all the help. Btw, I got one more question, not related to the topic though. Is there a way so that meGUI doesn't delete the .stats file it produces (if it does) so that if something happens during the encode and I have to restart my encode I can just point at it and skip the Queu Analysis Pass?

Is there a way so that meGUI doesn't delete the .stats file it producesIt's the encoder that produces those files, and yes there's a way.. ever entered the settings before? You can tell megui to delete intermediate files or not delete them.. if you opt for the latter, everything will be kept. However, be careful with aborted passes.. say your encoder crashed during the second pass.. that means part of the second pass has already been performed and depending on the settings, the stats file may or may not have been updated (if you do a default 2 pass I believe the stats file won't be updated so you'll be fine.. but if you do a 3 pass encoding with x264, things in the middle pass look differently) and I'm not sure how starting with a stats file like that will influence the final outcome (if at all). This is however a matter to ask those that wrote the encoder in question.

Heh, I have been in the settings screen once or twice since this is my second time using it for something serious and not just fool around with it. I was just wondering since it would be convinient in a way.

Thanks
