hi guys,
i've encoded 2 interlaced movies(pal) without deinterlacing them and they both work fine on my standalone and my computer. so here's my question: what's deinterlacing good for and when or why should i use it?
thanx,
bedhead.

i don't really get this whole interlaced-thing. some movies work without deinterlacing them, some don't. if someone could be so kind as to tell me how to handle interlaced video-sources, i'd really appreciate that. thanx,
bedhead.

I'm not up to par on the issue myself. I ripped Pete's Dragon to SVCD and there are lines like crazy through it when viewing it on the PC. When viewed on TV the lines don't show at all. So I think you'd use deinterlace if you intend watching it on a PC (like a laptop and also standalone dvd player). Then again there are crazy people like ScooterMyth:cool: who do divx and svcd for each dvd.

Hey! I resemble that remark! Just for that I'm gonna start adding ALL the subtitles to my backups now, too!
