Hello to one and all,
I have just started using AutoGK, it seems it will do everything I need it to do, and it seems to have had enough development and testing so that what it does, it does well.
I have started encoding a few of my movies and would like to ask you all how accurate do you find your final filesize to be when encoding in "Custom Size" mode?
Does AutoGK usually hit that number on the head? or is it within +/- 5MB? +/- 20MB?
So far I am extremely pleased with its functionality and final encodes, although it would be amazing if x264 encoding could be enabled in AutoGK, but its too bad development has stopped on this amazing app.
In any case, I thank you all for your responses in advance.

I believe there are apps that utilize x264 that are nearly as simple to use as AutoGK. There was no point in furthering development when the codecs have moved away from VfW, which means a whole new app is needed.
As far as the output size, mine are usually 2 MB under my specification. If you're seeing severe undersizing, you may have installed Xvid over an existing installation. Uninstalling/reinstalling Xvid should solve that.

thank you for your reply, my average final size is of about 1.5GB and i am seing a consistent undersize of 30-50MB per rip.
would you recomend a complete removal and reinstall of the XviD codec?
also could you give me some examples of x264 encoders that are as easy and reliable as autogk?
thank you in advance for your help.

Uninstalling/reinstalling Xvid shouldn't cause any harm whether it solves your problem or not. In other words, it can't hurt.
I use x264 along with Gordian Knot, which is not easy at all. It also means I have to use the VfW build of x264, another thing that's no longer being developed. I don't know directly of any apps that use x264, but check out StaxRip and MPEG Mediator.

from 100 encodes in agk, about 90 were between 716'000 and 719'000.
the rest between 719'000 and 723'000. target size being 700mb of course.
i can burn up to 719'630 and just cut off a few secs of the credits from the ones that were to big. i dont need them anyway..
oh and i did install the 1.2 xvid over the 1.12 :p :stupid:

@CWR02:
thank you for your reply once again. i will uninstall/reinstall XviD after this queue is over to make sure, i dont understand why i am consistently getting -30 -50 MB on all my encodes.
@FishTank:
from your results it seems that AutoGK should be generating filesizes very very close to what was specified. i will have to reinstall XviD and see if that helps.
Thank you both for your help with this matter.
