The ultimate Man's DVD

Hi everyone -

I've got a huge collection of movies, and I want to make an "ultimate" collection of scenes for a "Man's DVD".

So what I'm looking for is suggestions from the Doom9 forum crowd for the best 1-3 minute(maybe longer if worth it) minute scenes in all the movies ever made. I'll probably end up with about 40-60 scenes, unless I do more than 1 DVD, which is very possible.

What I'm looking for:

1) Action (ex. Kiss of the Dragon fight against 20 guys)
2) Special Effects (ex. Matrix Highway Chase Scene)
3) Funny (ex. Roxanne's 20 big nose jokes)

What I'm not looking for:

1) Nudity
2) Gross gore/violence
3) Vulgar
4) Mushy/Romantic/Chick stuff

I want this to be a DVD I can share with just about anyone when they come over, so inappropriate scenes won't be considered (no boobs, butts, gore, extreme swearing). I plan on ripping the best scenes from my favorite DVD's and making a final DVD with the best scenes from all of them.

Assume I have any movie ever released on DVD... I may just purchase it if the scene suggested is good enough!

I'll post the results and what I ended up doing for all to enjoy. Maybe I'll even snail-mail copies to the first people to recommend each scene I end up using. I love the Doom9 community, so I know you have good taste! Let's have it!

How about the ending scene of Domino, when she just screams her head off, guns blazing in every direction?

Or the scene in the third matrix (I think), where the giant mech warriors are fighting off the squidy's. Again lots of screaming and guns blazing.

There is that scene from "Cradle 2 the grave", where Jet Li fights with many guys in the cage...

For screaming with guns blazing you would want Predator.

From the opening of The Matrix, where the local cops come into the room where Trinity is using a laptop, and the subsequent fight where she takes them all out.

Also on the roof of the Agents building later in the movie where Neo first dodges bullets - the Bit where Trinity puts a gun to the agent's head and says "dodge this".

Aliens - when the marines and Ripley first descend to the planet in the drop ship, and Hudson does his speech. "We got knives, we got sharp sticks we got sonic electronic ball breakers . . ." etc.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, where Rory gives his speech to Nick the Greek. "if you lie, I'll Kill Ya, If you leave anything out, I'll Kill Ya . . . . . You got that Nick, cos if ya don't, I'll kill ya". etc.

The Professional where the SWAT team storms Leon's room where he waits above the door. . . .

One of the best movies for action fight sences is The Protector,starring Tony Jaa,at least 4 quality fight scenes,with a couple of them destined to be classics.

Easy one, first thing that came to my head: the threesome scene in wild things.

Since there is no nudity a better 3-way would be the stand off in The Good the Bad and the Ugly.

As long as you have Aliens in the drive you should grab the "Game over, man! Game Over!" clip for the end.

A must have is the Matrix Lobby scene.

Spinal Tap: "these go to 11" scene , Stonehenge performance and follow up meeting

Any Given Sunday: Pick a montage.

Ben-Hur: Chariot race

The Big Lebowski: musical dream sequence

Big Trouble in Little China: Jack Burton monologue, Ally fight, final Lo-pan fight

Blade: blood bath fight (maybe too gory, I don't recall it being that bad)

Blazing Saddles: new sheriff in town, Mongo sequences

Equilibrium: Gunkata fights

Fifth Element: Taxi chase, opera shootout

Raiders of the Lost Ark: Truck sequence

That's it for now. I was scanning my collection to come up with ideas but it made me want to watch a movie. :)

An otherwise crappy movie called Short Time has one of the best car chase scenes in it.

I don't think you could get more manly than the movie "300" :) Might need to wait a little while on that dvd though.

Also check out Jackie Chan's Legend of Drunken Master (aka Drunken Master II). Martial Arts and beer, you cant go wrong there!

Hmmm... another good one is a Japanese film called Battle Royale. Shootouts between young japanese schoolgirls... intense and strangely erotic at the same time :)

Mmm, there are too many worthwhile scenes out there. Making a single DVD out of them will be tough.

Oh, and the sword fight between the two women in 'Hero' - the one where they're dressed in flowing red silk robes and fight in a glade with blowing yellow leaves. Stunning cinamatography!

1) Nudity

If you're going to make a manly DVD then you would show it to the guys. So of course you'd have those in there. But, whatever floats your boat...

For a collection of bad-ass scenes that appeal to dudes, you absolutely, positively, MUST include SOMETHING from Fight Club (I wouldn't settle for less than 3 scenes).

What are you talking about? That disc is nothing like the one that he is proposing. All the disc on the HTGuide forums is is a Surround Sound test/demo disc. Completely different.
