Hello,

i am converting SHORT clips right now, either with VDUBMod and latest FFDSHOW and WMV9 codec, or Sony Vegas 7.

I cant get over the fact how slow WMV encoding is. I need about 30min or so for a short 7min videoclip.

Is there a faster way to encode to 320x240/Youtube "Quality" (lol) video clips ?

Try WME assistant http://www.wmeassistant.com/

It's the fastest WMV encoder I know. It's not free but it's worth it.

Also, in ff_vfw, adjusting the motion search precision down might speed things up. (this worked for SNOW at least)

WMV8 instead of WMV7 cause it's better, WMV8 over WMV9 cause it's about twice as fast.

How can it be faster than WME9 if it's using the same codec?

It can't. It's based on the same codec DMO. It can only lower the complexity at the expense of quality to make things go faster.

You may be right. All I know is that it's fast, easy and simple to use and great for batch file encoding.
