Coping sections of a dvd

Sorry is this is in the wrong place, I looked in the editing section and found no where to ask it.

Any ways I dvd's that I want to take sections of the dvd to make smaller videos to use with Vista's back ground.
I uses dvd shrink to rip the dvd, I have a 1;1 copy and it plays great.

What software can I uses to edit the sections out I don't want.

OR do I need to use TMGE to encode to mpeg ?
Any ideas ?

You can use DVD Shrink in "Re-author" mode...

I have used dvd shrink for years, however NEVER really explored it. I alway did a 1:1 copy. so thank you very much for teaching me something new.
