How do you do this? >_>'

I've got this DVD here (Howl's Moving Castle). I want to encode it into ipod-compatible MP4 with hardcoded subs... but I can't figure out how to do it. The subs have to appear on my iPod.

I'd prefer to be able to do this using a Gui like MeGUI or Staxrip, BTW.

Doesn't MeGUI create Avisynth scripts for DVDs? You can rip the subtitles using VobSub and just edit the script to add the following lines:
LoadPlugin("X:\path\to\VSFilter.dll")
VobSub("subtitle.sub")

I can? Thanks.

Just a thought - wouldn't you have to squint to see the subtitles? How big were you planning them to be?

Nah, the subtitles would be readable enough. Small, true, but readable. I converted a couple of anime episodes for my brother's iPod and the subs are readable even without squinting. I prefer my PSP to his iPod, though.
