Firstly, does such a thing exist? (Probably not, but y'never know. ;))

Secondly, does anybody know where I can get my hands on one in the UK? No more than about £70 max (my budget limit). Need one fairly sharpish as I'm recording stuff next week and my local hardware shops don't sell VCRs anymore. Deprecated technology so they tell me. :D

Just had a look at Richer Sounds web site.... They have a Samsung DVDR128..... However, it's a tenner over your budget: -

From time to time places like Aldi and Lidl stock such devices at around £70.00. Some stores might still have them ;)

I saw a cheap, was either just under £60 or just under £70 (can't remember), DVDR machine in TESCO yesterday, don't know the specs, it was a little black recorder, a LITE-ON.

Cool, might check that out. I got a local Tescos, but can't remember if it does electrical stuff or not...

I found this (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4DXN) on dabs.com, seems alright, decent reviews, I'm not a technophobe so can probably set it up easy. I have no immediate desire to record DVB, just a TV signal for 3 days.

OK, Dabs have let me down, cause their supplier hasn't shipped and they don't know when it's gonna be in, so I'm still in need of one. I'm thinking Asda, cause I know their ones can be pretty reliable, but does anybody know of any more online suppliers that are relatively cheap and cheerful. Again, £70 is my limit, £75 at a push with VAT and delivery.

Somebody on MSN pointed me to Ebay. 2 hours later, I'd won an auction on an Alba RDVD1002 (click me!) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130115019829&rd=1&rd=1). Anybody have experience with this recorder?

Oh, and total price was about £30, including delivery! Bargain or what? :D
