View Full Version : Strip/Blank/Delete PGC safety without audio broken?

Hi everyone,

I have some DVDs which have 2 version: Theater version and Extended version of the same movie on each DVD.

VTS1 (7GB) have 2 PGCs:
-PGC1 Theater version (5GB)
-PGC2 Extended version (6GB)

When I blank or delete PGC1 (Theater version), I have Extended version of that movie but Audio is broken/silence when watching at the end of a chapter to the beginning of next chapter.

I did it a year ago, application is old and out of date, I don't want to mention here, it may solve this issue. I don't know if there's a good application that's able to strip/blank/delete safety?

I also can't point to a scene precisely that I want, if I drag slidebar over chapter 3 but not exceed chapter 4, it forced me to watch at the beginning of chapter 3 (I used 2 different apps to remove Prohibited actions for those PGCs/Cells, so it's not because of Prohibited settings) and slidebar don't show my position I was watching precisely ( I drag slidebar to chapter3 but slidebar is on chapter1 all the times)

Thank you

Use VobBlanker to blank the first PGC. (But be cautious! It cannot blank interleaved cells, and it is probable that your title is interleaved.)

For the slidebar problem, try to rebuild the time maps with PgcEdit or VobBlanker. Also, verify (with PgcEdit) if there are non-zero LinkNext/Prev/GoUp PGCN values defined for the PGC 2. In this case, some software players assume that the title is not sequential, and disable the slidebar. Also the title should not have its not-one_sequential flag ticked in the Title Play Map table. In the same table, verify also the two PUOs.

I did it once in IfoEdit, and with success.
But I wonder why you would blank one PGC? You won't gain any space by blanking the first, and a little (the extra frames, 1GB in your example) by blanking the second and longest PGC.
Remember, they're interleaved. Blanking PGC1 doesn't mean you free those 5GB. They're used in PGC2 too.
Of course, that is, if you want to preserve the menus and the entire DVD structure. If you just want to rip out the main movie, I suggest you try IfoEdit.
If compression is your concern, DVD Rebuilder handles ILVU and has a free version, and it supports the very good and also free HC Encoder. You won't notice the difference if you leave both PGC's in.

With DvdReMake Pro you should be able to hide one of the PGSs without a problem. It will take care of interleaved cells automatically.

Yes, I have done this on dimad's advice - it is much better than Ifoedit as all structure is preserved.

You can hide and restore to uninterleave everything in the hidden PGC in one go.

Thanks for the tip dimad :)

Thank you all r0lZ, Calimari, Dimad, blutach for your replies.
I use IfoEdit 0.971 but I can't make Seamless Branching works(its checkbox option is always gray, can't check it?: VOB Extras>Strip Stream or Strip VOB-ID)

I solved issue about slidebar in WMP/PowerDVD, that DVD has 2 PGCs in a same VTS, PGC1 have 10 programs from 1 to 10, PGC2 has 12 programs from 1 to 12 but they show as programs from 11 to 22 virtually in Titles (besides Program Chain and Menu), just delete those references then everything's just fine.

To make IfoEdit (http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/) remove seamless branching work, you need to check remove ILVU/angle point.
