View Full Version : Synching Audio to Video

Okay - I'm stymied!
I've been attempting to rip and copy DVD movies to my new Zen player for a month now to no avail. I've followed all the guidelines herein using DVDDecrypter and GKnot AutoGK. The movies rip successfully but for whatever reason, I still cannot get the audio synched up with the video. There MUST be a better way.
I'm using Windows XP Home, SP1 (I'm really reticent to install SP2 and w/o it cannot install nor use WMP 10 - does this really make a difference?)
And, I have the Creative Zen 60GB Vision M.
Anyone have any suggestions that don't seem to be contained in this forum?
Please help.

Use search and you will find that this question has been asked and answered many, many times. It's likely an advanced copy protection on the disk.

CW,
Been there, done that... got the t-shirt. Maybe there's a thread I'm missing.
As far as copy protection, I'm ripping from a decrypted copy.
As I said, I've attempted everything I've been able to find in this forum, short of manually adjusting the sync, which I don't want to bother with.
But, I thank you for the reply! :)
Anyone else?

@digidoc
The point about the source material is not whether you've already decrypted it, rather it's whether the original DVD contained either "RipGuard" or "ARccOS" copy protection.
If so, you rip may require further "cleaning up" with either FixVTS or VOBBlanker in order to yield properly synched .AVI (or other) conversions.
What are the Titles and Regions of the problematic DVDs?

It's happening with ALL my DVD's. I've tried several... some are copies, some are originals.
I could truly use some real assistance here.
Thanks for your reply.

Still seeking assistance with this one.
All replies appreciated. Sooner or later, I'll find the answer.

As an experiment, try using MPEG Mediator instead of AutoGK.
If you still have a synch problem, perhaps you should update to SP2...

Okay-I've finally resolved my issue with synching audio and video for my Vision M player. I hope this information is useful to others on this board.
Turns out that with Windows XP Home Edition, SP2 is apparently required. Seems that Media Player 10 (or later) has different codecs that are compatible with the Zen Vision M. NOTE: Media Player 10 (or higher) is not available for XP Home SP1. You MUST download and install SP2 in order to get it. I took the leap, updated to SP2, then downloaded and installed Media Player 11 and my problems were solved.
Also, in my research travels and trevails I discovered an excellent ripping and conversion software. It's not freeware, but it's reasonable and it's extremely simple to use.
It's called AVS Video Converter. I'm using it and I'm very happy with it.
Thanks to all who made an attempt at assisting.

Did you try (as I also suggested) using MPEG Mediator?

I did not try MPEG Mediator - didn't need to.
But, thanks.
