Ive only started having this problem today, dvd shrink is taking of 2 hours to decode.

Pentium D 3ghz
1gb RAM
200gbHDD

It used to take 15 - 20 mins now all of a sudden its 2 hours?

Any ideas?

Did you change any quality setting?

Also keep in mind, if you were duplicating a movie that fits on your target it's a lot faster as it doesn't need to actually do any re-encoding.

If it has to reduce it's size, then it's not unusual to take that long.

(activating the high-quality option would also add a lot of processing time)

First thing I would do is use Task Manager to make sure another process isn't using up a big chunk of my CPU or something disk intensive is running like a scheduled defrag or AV scan.

@FIGHT3ROO

Are you referring to the actual decoding time or the overall time including burning?

If you mean the time including burning, it's likely that your drive or drives are presently in PIO mode instead of DMA mode...

@FIGHT3OO

In the Device Manager (via the Control Panel>>System>>Hardware>>Device Manager), you simply have to remove the applicable IDE channel (Click on "IDE...Controllers") and let your computer reset it to DMA as follows:
Right click on the pertinent channel in Device Manager
Click on uninstall
Reboot
After rebooting go back to Device Manager and change the setting to "DMA if available"...
