Hi all,
I have question regarding the release of HDMI 1.3a cable from Sony. Is there any difference if we use that cable in our DVD/DivX disc player that have HDMI 1.1 or 1.2 standard compare with HDMI 1.1 and 1.2 cable? My friend told me that difference almost cannot see, but how much not sure.

Hi all,
I have question regarding the release of HDMI 1.3a cable from Sony. Is there any difference if we use that cable in our DVD/DivX disc player that have HDMI 1.1 or 1.2 standard compare with HDMI 1.1 and 1.2 cable? My friend told me that difference almost cannot see, but how much not sure.

All HDMI cables and/or connections are made to be backward compatible. So 1.3(a) cables should work fine with 1.2(a) / 1.1 / 1.0 versions. The only thing you'll have to look at is that since v1.3, HDMI.org has introduced a mini-connector for connection of camera's and such to the TV. So the main idea is: as long as the connector fits, it works ;)

The other side of the story however is that i think you'll be paying too much for your cable. Because since HDMI 1.3 the signal speed over the cable has been set a lot higher. I think that cables will be more expensive because of it; Just like Cat5e cables are more expensive than Cat4.

But the beeing more expensive is more of a guess of mine;I havent looked/compared prices, but I have lived on this planet long enough to know that manufacturers will try to squeeze more money out of you when something new comes around :D

See for info on HDMI, for instance:

Thanks for the info,
Anyway it's not expensive :p I quite shock to find that the price some how very cheap compare with HDMI M*** cable from USA. It's just about 40 USD for the 1 meters and 60 dollars for 3 meters. And it's a Sony :)
