Raw AVI has horizonatal lines on mac not windows? Anyone

Hi all

im doing a project with some mega uncompressed AVI's -3 Gb per minute using final cut pro - the avi's have horizontal lines running through distorting the black and white images - its old movietone footage in ntsc format 720x480. Ive just been given a dvd where the avi's were converted on a pc using nerovision set to automatic and there are no lines or blurring

Anyone know something weird with avi's that i should see the lines in quicktime and fcp and in my output to mpeg2 while they are not there on a pc?

The source video is most likely interlaced or telecined. You need to use a deinterlacing or inverce telecine (ivtc) filter, or encode the files as interlaced MPEG-2. I don't know how these things are done with your tools, but perhaps this helps you to find the solutions.
