View Full Version : Can't read rebuilt EVO file from EVOdemux

I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is.

I've used the latest EVOdemux (v626 beta 5) to rebuild the 2 EVO files from King Kong. However, the latest Haali Splitter (28/4/2007) cannot open it. I keep getting the error "Filter failed to load file - unspecified error (return code : 0x80004005)". I also tried Haali Simple Media Splitter but get the same error. Finally I tried gdsmux.exe but that also can't open it.

Using EVOdemux I've rebuilt with and without the "Rebuild ADV_PCKS" option selected, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

FWIW, I can open the EVO files before rebuilding them without any problems.

Frankly I'm stumped! Can anyone offer any suggestions?

can u mux the first evo using gdsmux? if that works, its a problem w/evodemux. if not, its a problem w/haalia.

Just tried this out and gdsmux works fine on the first evo.

I'm only having problems when evodemux rebuilds the 2 feature evos.

Stupid thing is, this procedure has worked fine on 2 other movies I have. :(

Ideally what I want to end up with is a file (preferably mkv) with the vc1 video and the english DD+ track that I can build a playback graph for using Haali's media splitter.

Apart from using evodemux I don't know how else to JOIN the files.

EDIT: Hmmm.....I managed to get it to work. I had to rebuild the 2 evo files again with EVOdemux BUT without reading the xpl file.

Curious.

I mentioned this in the EvoDemux thread, but no doubt it was lost among the thousands of other posts!

I get the same problem - if I read the XPL, the last stream vanishes from under the video / audio / subtitle tabs. Presumably these streams then get included along with the one you select.

Thanks for confirming that.
That would explain why Haali can't open the file.

I take it the issue was never resolved?

Apart from using evodemux I don't know how else to JOIN the files.

Glad you got it working but if the need ever arises you can combine the 2 EVOs with an AVS file.

DirectShowSource("Path\evo1.grf",options)+DirectShowSource("Path\evo2.grf",options)

I had to do that to get around some issues where I couldnt use the combined demuxed VC-1 stream.
