Hi,
I've done a search on here but only really found references to advanced authoring using programs I cant afford.
What are people using to stick 1080i content onto a regualar DVD (Dual layer)
I've just bought a Toshiba HDDVD player and am waiting for some movies to turn up. My brother is bringing down a 1080P camera for me to shoot some footage, and I want to know what people are using.
I've very familiar with encoding and the like, so I don't need any help in that area.
Cheers

Scenarist SCA - like SD-DVD authoring
Ulead DVD Factory 5/6 or Cyberlink or Pinnacle - simply HDDVD authoring programs

Scenarist SCA is WAY out of my price range!
I pulled the demo of MF6 and Cyberlink, but they dont allow .vc1 resources (just MPEG2). As the whole purpose is to experiment with VC1/h264 then these are useless.
Does anyone know if pinnacle with use .vc1? There seems to be a new version due out but the forums dont seem to be working ATM
Cheers
Jim
This is very simple (if putting .m2ts files onto regular dvds):
Use moviefactory 6 plus (it's a free trial for 30 days). Just make sure you set the dvd settings at the bottom to either 15 or 30 gb hd dvd, even though your actually putting it on a regular dvd. Also, make sure under the audio (compression) setting that you make sure to click on dolby digital. A free capture device is HDVsplit. I use this for simple capture sometimes.
Note: I know of no way to burn ripped hd DVD files to disc of any kind at this time.

OK, daft question, so I have some .vc1/h264 elementry streams. How do I mux them into a .m2ts? I can get them to .ts using ffmpeg (I did this a few days ago), but AVCHD ts has 4 extra bytes at the front of the transport packet.
I still have MF6 installed (demo) so If I click the 'Add video files' option then the file selecter doesn't have .m2ts as a valid file extension. Which option are you using to import?
Like I mentioned in my previous post I managed mpeg2 HDDVD no problem, but I would like to use the more advanced codecs.
Cheers

I don't know-the .m2ts files that I am using have come from my HDV camcorder natively. I haven't needed to do any remuxing or reencoding of any kind. I will tell you that I think there are 2 versions of moviefactory however (one for the us and one for Europe). I am using ulead moviefactory 6 plus-which is for the US. I think Corel is the name of the software the makes both versions-that might help you.

maya,
Can you tell me what button you are clicking on to import the .m2ts?
Cheers

OK, I've found the correct button and have a sample AVCHD .m2ts file. The next thing I need to do is get the correct directory structure. When you load your files from disk what are the folder names? Are there any other files in with the .m2ts?
Jim
First of all, I notice that you said AVCHD files, I don't know if this version of moviefactory supports avchd files. I know they just created or added to moviefactory to support AVCHD, so make sure it is supported. When I import my .m2ts files there is only one exported file from my camera, and that is the one that I import into moviefactory. All should go relatively smoothly at that point (assuming AVCHD is supported). I think there is a guide on avs forum by the way as well, I am never in front of my home computer to go through this with anyone step by step. But once the file is imported to moviefactory it is relatively easy from there.

I am posting here, because i think my question matches to the topic.
I got access to Sonic Scenarist Standard Content through my friend. It is the first time i use Scenarist and i have actually no clue. The manual is so bad...
Can somebody please give me a small Guide, howto make a movie only HD-DVD in Scenarist based on a VC1 video file and two AC3 audio tracks ?
Thanks in advance.

I dont think 'standard' can do it. I'm not entirly sure but I think you need the 'advanced content creation'.
Somebody here will undoubtedly know.

Standard can do it...
SCA gives all possibilities (e.g 8 button commands, 64 GPRMs, VC1, AVC, etc) except HDi.

Have yo ever make a working HD DVD with EVOBs, maps, etc. using the SCA?

Yes, but tested on software players only...

Could you give me a little help how you did it?

@Pelican9 :
As far as I know, SCA won't produce .MAP files. Those are reserved for advanced content discs.
Up until now, in spite of my endless efforts, I was unable to author even the simplest ("movie only") hd-dvd advanced content using Scenarist ACA.
In fact, I couldn't get it to accept demuxed VC1 files (complains about non-compliance), and couldn't get it to accept encoded .h264 files (even tho they ARE compliant and scenarist SCA accepts them with no problem).
I'm still trying to achieve a way to demux main-movie, encode it to h264 (to fit a DVD9 or DVD5), author a new EVOB/MAP, replace the ones on the original disc and thus getting a backup I can burn on regular DVD media.
Problem remains.. it's impossible as of now to mux ;/
If you have any input or ideas on the subject.. I'm happy to hear it :)

@xbox360
I assume you are offering help with advanced content, not the application itself.
