Any idea how to put subs in *.ssa/ass into a video file? Not as a file in a container. I've read that Avidemux can do it, but I would like to use command line only.
MEncoder supports hardsubbing, but the SSA/ASS renderer it uses might not work well enough (even if it does work in MPlayer). The -vf expand filter may be required to overlay the subtitles when encoding.
Another option would be to use AviSynth in Wine.
