View Full Version : problem with AGK's splitting

Hi,
I'm trying to rip a home recorded (using an LG recorder) dvd.
I've already done things like that before, but it was a long time ago, probably with a different ver. of AGK, and my computer was formatted since then.
The DVD Decrypter goes fine. Most of the AGK process seems to be ok either, but at the end, I'm getting a split error and AGK finishes it's job. There's seems to be some temp files left after the process, but the target file is empty (0 bytes).
I've tried doing this several times (same dvd) and it failed, some of the times the process took over 10 hours. In the log I'm posting now, it's only 5 hours.
(log attached, renamed to txt)
can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the forum,
On rare occasions when AGK cannot split, you can use use the original file and split manually (VDUBMOD /save as /segment output size /limit size 700Mb). But as you have no target file, you could try to make a new encode with a 1399 or 1401Mb file and split manually

To know if AGK is involved you could try on another source for 2cd with split; if no good my advise would be to clean uninstall all and do a clean install (nothing less, nothing more: like codec packs)
If good your source may have problems and you could try to repair it before encoding with apps like videoredo or similar (Mpg2cut2 can sometimes help).

Ps: you can directly copy/paste your AGK log in your post here.

BigDid, thanks for helping.
Tried redoing the process with 1401 mb., instead of 1400, didn't work again.
Result's the same, "Job finished", temp files in place, the target file is empty.
This time I noticed that there was a problem with virtual dub during the process. It had a problem accessing the file (image attached), I think it happened some time after AGK wrote that it is "running first pass" (log attached).
P.S., i'm not posting the log because it saves time scrolling through the page for anyone who doesn't want to see it.

I think I found out what was my problem. I've tried ripping the dvd with another software (avi.net) and it gave some file accessing problem, so I've tried repeating the process with AGK in windows' safe mode, and it worked.
Apparently there was some problem with windows that prevented AGK from creating/writing the avi file.
