I backed up Smokin' Aces HD-DVD to the hard drive using AnyDVDHD and later attempted to play it with PowerDVD 7.3 and a message popped up asking to connect to the internet to download some files.

Sensing something was wrong, I canceled out , retried and got the same message. After relenting and and clicking OK to download, I received an error message.

I erased the movie from the hard drive, re-ripped and got the same messages and errors. I even tried playing the EVO files using PowerDVD's play media files option but no joy.

One thing to note, I WAS able to play the movie successfully directly from disc using XBOX 360 drive and AnyDVDHD

Ultimately, I was able to get the movie to play from hard drive by backing up using BackupHDDVD-GUI and editing the XPL file.

I would like to know if anyone else with Smokin' Aces HD-DVD can confirm this behavior?

PS I have posted the hash and volume key in the sticky area too.

I got this message when I tried to play an older HD-DVD (Spy Game, actually). When I clicked Yes it actually crashed my computer. When I restarted again PDVD worked fine, played any movie without problems, hasn't nagged me since.

I've played Smokin Aces and decrypted it just fine.

Which tool did you use to Decrypt/Back-up?
