CRAM codec rencode

Hi,

i have an AVI file which is 1GB. When i RAR it, it's 10mb

i have checked in Gspot codec information it says

CRAM codec, Microsoft Video 1

i want to re encode this AVI file so it would take less Harddisk space. Which steps should i take and with which softwares?

CRAM is a truly ancient codec, so if you re-encode to more or less any recent video codec you will get a huge reduction. Try xvid or x264.
