And 3. How do you define the difference between "clearer" and "better" ?

768k is DTS half-rate. Full-rate DTS is 1536k.

Usually the DTS track in audio dvds is encoded in full-rate. Unfortunately there is only a handful of movies encoded in full-rate dts.

On my high end system DTS sounds cleared/deeper with much better and deeper basses.

Unfortunately there is only a handful of movies encoded in full-rate dts.
That's because there's too low available bitrate left for the video.
On my high end system DTS sounds cleared/deeper with much better and deeper basses.
I also get better bass, but part of the "better DTS sound" is because it's encoded with higher volume. Raise the volume for the DD track and the difference is much smaller.

Movie dialogue is easier heard with DD, it has some built-in compensation
DTS encoder is less effective, the sound quality difference is smaller than bitrate difference
The 1,5Mbps DTS version sounds really good, for example Jarre's Audio DVD
When a studio decides to make a movie with both DD and DTS tracks they usually pay more attention to mixing and mastering and both audio tracks sounds good.

Quite true. Often the DTS track is more "adventurous" and the surround mix is more "aggressive" (more use of all speakers, some full range also in rears).

Actually,
The main difference between Dolby Digital and DTS is that DTS have more detail sound compare with Dolby Digital. Just use your home theater and compare those DD Sound at 640kbps with DTS at 768 or even 1536. And you will know.
