does such a even thing exist? what makes everyone think I want a standalone device or one for my car? I'm looking for a PCI or pci express hd radio tuner.

(this might be in the wrong forum, but it seemed like the best place to ask)

I thought most radio stations were available via the web and were all digital standard

I had thought of that, but I assumed that the bitrate of HD radio would be greater than that of streaming internet radio. Am I wrong in this assumption?

Not necessarily. Have a read of this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_Radio) wikipedia article.

How many bits a particular broadcast gets is more or less up to the broadcaster. How that compares to a typical 128k MP3 audio stream is anyone's guess.

ah, thanks. I was thinking "hd" actually meant high def, not a paltry 96kbps. high def to me means... something similar to flac.

I know that this is an old thread, but I would like to point out that FLAC is lossless... the FLAC files you hear sound EXACTLY like the originals.

Anyway, I'm also looking for an HD Radio tuner for PC for my carputer. Is there such a thing? USB/PCI/PCI Express/Doesn't matter.
